Runplanner is designed with privacy at its core. Your data stays on your device.

The Short Version
Runplanner is a local-first app. Your routes, activities, and settings are stored only on your device. We don't have accounts, we don't collect personal data, and we don't track you. Simple as that.
Data We Process
Location Data
Runplanner uses your device's GPS to show your position on the map and track your running activities. This includes:
- Your current location while using the map
- GPS coordinates during activity recording (including background tracking)
- Waypoints you place when planning routes
Storage: All location data stays on your device. We never upload your location to our servers.
Camera Access
The camera is used only to scan QR codes when importing routes shared by other users.
Storage: No images are stored. The camera feed is processed in real-time to detect QR codes and immediately discarded.
Local Storage
The app stores data locally on your device to provide its features:
- Saved routes and waypoints
- Recorded activities and history
- App settings and preferences
- Cached map data for offline use
Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all stored data. You can also delete individual routes and activities from within the app.
Third-Party Services
To provide mapping and routing features, Runplanner connects to the following external services:
Mapbox
Provides map tiles and styling. Subject to Mapbox Privacy Policy.
OpenStreetMap
Provides road network data for route calculation via Overpass API. OSM Privacy Policy.
OSRM
Open Source Routing Machine for fallback route calculations. Processes waypoint coordinates only.
Open-Meteo
Provides weather information based on approximate location. Open-Meteo Terms.
Note: When you plan a route or view the map, your approximate location (coordinates) is sent to these services to fetch relevant map data and calculate routes. No personal identifiers are included.
What We Don't Do
No Accounts
We don't require registration or collect email addresses
No Tracking
We don't use analytics or track your behavior
No Data Sales
We never sell or share your data with third parties
No Cloud Storage
Your routes and activities never leave your device
No Ads
No advertising networks or ad tracking
No Social Login
No Facebook, Google, or other social integrations
Sharing Features
Runplanner includes optional sharing features that you control:
- QR Code Sharing: You can generate QR codes containing route data to share with friends. This is entirely optional and initiated by you.
- GPX Export: You can export routes as GPX files to use with other apps or devices. The exported file is stored on your device.
- Deep Links: Routes can be shared via links (runplanner://). When you open such a link, the route data is imported to your device.
Your Rights & Control
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Delete anytime: Remove individual routes, activities, or all data by uninstalling the app
- Export your data: Export any route as GPX to keep a backup or transfer to another service
- Revoke permissions: Disable location or camera access anytime in your device settings
Children's Privacy
Runplanner does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, this app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
